Post-traumatic Headache Syndrome

headachesIf you, or someone you know has been involved in an auto accident or car crash call (407) 706-3773 to schedule an appointment immediately for a short, but complete, exam. It is common for those involved in auto accidents or car crashes to feel minimal or no symptoms for the first a couple of weeks and sometimes the first few months.

Post-traumatic headache syndrome frequently follows any injuries to the head or neck, including after rear-end auto accidents. The headaches typically resolve quickly, within days to several weeks of treatment. The vast majority of patients with post-traumatic headaches simply want their pain to be improved and their disrupted life back to normal. Surprisingly few exaggerate their symptoms.

If the headaches develop within 2 weeks of the car accident, and persist for months or longer, this is known as the 'chronic phase' of the post-traumatic headache syndrome. It is possible for patients not to develop post-traumatic migraines until weeks and months following the injury, but headaches usually begin within hours or days of the accident. In many patients, especially those with more severe head and neck trauma, headaches may be a problem for months, years, or even a lifetime.

Play it safe - Don't let an insurance company decide for you that you are not injured.
